Objectives of the Support Group:
To find support
To provide support
To create awareness in the community of local and national support facilities.
Wherever possible to work towards improving standards of care and distribution of information for all cancer patients and their families.
To promote early detection amongst all ages.
Achievements since August 2003
Monthly Newsletter to 440 members and affiliates.
Monthly meetings for members: morning meetings at Scarborough, Secondary Group at North Lakes and evening meetings at Caboolture.

Held 5 successful Mini-Fields (and organised 1 that was rained out)
Organised 1st Caboolture Christmas Star Remembrance event
Finalists-Caboolture Shire Herald Business Achiever Awards 2004 & 2005
Presence in Shopping Centres and public events
Formed associations with Council, politicians, business groups, radio stations, newspapers, community service groups, local business and other useful contacts.

11 members attended Field of Women – Live in 2007 at Telstra Stadium
Featured in Breast Cancer Network Australia Beacon magazine Winter 2006 and Spring 2009.

Following Encore members continue to meet weekly for Aqua Exercise sessions
Fund raising for other organizations:
§ $250 to register Redcliffe Red Dragons cancer survivor boat with Dragons Abreast (August 2005)
§ Garage Sale raised $872.85 for RBH Childrens Foundation (September 2005)
§ Sausage Sizzle raised $235.70 for Mayumarri healing weeks for adult survivors of childhood abuse in Queensland. (October 2005)
§ $1250 for Pink Snapdragons rashies and registration of Dragon Boat (March 2006)
§ Member participation in Coolum to Noosa Walk (24 Kms) July 2006. (The walk raised a total $18,000 for Qld Cancer Fund)
§ Donations to Qld. Cancer Fund Christmas Appeal 2005 and 2006
§ Teddy Bear sale to raise funds for RBH Children’s Foundation
§ $1000 donation to Queensland Institute of Medical Research 2008
§ Hosted fundraising night for BCNA at Menopause the Musical 2008 raised $800.
§ Moreton Pink Ladies team in Redcliffe Relay for Life 2008 raised in excess of $5000 for Cancer Council Queensland.
§ $1000 for Pinkaboutit Dragon Boat Team.
Members meet for social lunches at Dolphins [Kipparing]in the Bunny's Cafe on the 3rd Wed Each month.
Monthly knitting and crochet groups making scarves and beanies for all patients undergoing Chemotherapy at Burpengary and Scarborough.
Breast Care Nurse Project: members raised funds for the specialist training of two Breast Care Nurses to serve the Redcliffe-Caboolture Health District. Following discussions with Management at Redcliffe Hospital a Breast Cancer Care Coordinator has been appointed.
Collecting sample products to make up “Hospital Rescue Packs” of toiletries for women having breast cancer surgery, supplying Caboolture and Redcliffe Public Hospitals, Caboolture Private, Peninsula Private and North West Private Hospitals.
Distributing excess toiletry items to Shelters for the Homeless.
Distributing Bags and Seatbelt Cushions to Caboolture and Redcliffe Public Hospitals, Caboolture Private, Peninsula Private, Holy Spirit and North West Private Hospitals.
Providing gifts for children in Domestic Violence Refuges to give their Mums on Mothers Day 2010,2011, 2012, 2013.
Supporting Advanced Breast Cancer Support Group at West End.
